Raptor Welfare

Over a 3000-year history, falconers have developed a body of knowledge on the care and management of raptors, to optimise hunting performance, minimise stress and prevent disease.

In the modern age, falconry techniques are also an integral part of conservation and rehabilitation.

This site provides an overview of the welfare considerations of falconry, and we hope you find it useful.

If you already keep birds of prey, you can use the self-audit to check your own standards of care, and then for €20 can generate a certificate issued by the International Association for Falconry and Conservation of Birds of Prey (IAF).
